All about Shannon, well a little about Shannon

Latest homework, welcome to seventh grade.

Shannon is the youngest of 5 children.  She was born on July 1st, 2003 and, being the last to arrive was given the middle name ‘Grace’, as in grace note.  A grace note is an  indispensable embellishment to the music that punctuates the piece and helps realize its full potential, just as Shannon does for our family.

Shannon is very compassionate.  She loves her pets and spends lots of time playing with our golden retriever Dexter. Word of advice, don’t anyone dare hurt that dog as he is very important to Shannon and you don’t want to go there, this is where Shannon will say, Yeah Dad!  Well I admit sometimes we're not as patient as we should be with the dog and have raised her ire on occasion.

Speaking of ire, Shannon as I said is compassionate, well the root word is passionate and Shannon is very much that.  She very much sticks to her guns when she believes something and will stand up and speak her mind especially when she feels that she has been wronged, say by one of her older sisters.  I’ve admired this trait as Shannon has learned how to stand up for herself being the youngest child.  You always know where you stand with Shannon.  I hope she can develop this trait more outside the home as sometimes I think she becomes a little more withdrawn in a group setting.  It’s not because she is shy, but maybe a little more reserved and so she may need to be drawn out of her shell.

Shannon loves music and singing and is often singing aloud throughout the house.  She  has a really good voice so this isn’t a problem unless she is listening to headphones and can't hear herself and goes a little flat or sharp which, believe you me, she’ll hear about from Kaley who also has an ear for music.  Shannon has had some formal training on the piano but she did not get along well with her strict academician of a teacher and we finally relented by allowing her to stop taking.  Maybe she will start again?  Anyway, she does sing  in the choir.     Shannon knows how to snow ski, loves summer vacations, especially on our family farm in  Wales Utah with her many cousins.  I would say she likes to read although I hope that she becomes more of an avid reader like (us) her parents and her sisters since I believe that is so very important to future success and happiness.

Another thing I admire about Shannon is her dedication to her health and fitness.  She  works out regularly, think core muscles, and she eats oatmeal every day for breakfast and insists that she is vegan.  Remember I said she was passionate, well she is very passionate about her health.  Watch out though if you are hiding a bag of M&M’s or dark chocolate covered almonds because she will seek and destroy.

Suffice it to say that we are very fortunate to have Shannon in our family and we hope that you will take the time to get to know her and find out for yourself what a wonderful human being Shannon is.  We are looking forward to a great year as Shannon takes on the many challenges of adolescence and learning all the myriad things that she will need to have in her toolbox to have a promising future and a very rewarding life.   Thank you!
